Program of support for agriculture in Ukraine

Since November 2023, Prosper Global (formerly Mercy Corps) has been implementing the Agriculture Support Programme, funded by the Howard G. Buffett Foundation.

LASKA FUND is the programme partner in Mykolaiv and Kherson regions.

Households and small-scale farmers

Prosper Global provides support to the most vulnerable households and small-scale farmers affected by the war. Assistance is available to people living in rural areas who cultivate small plots of land ranging from 0.2 to 10 hectares. The average grant amount is USD 3,000.

Small agricultural businesses

Prosper Global supports small agricultural enterprises that, in addition to their core business activities, provide services to small-scale farmers and households or support them in other ways. Grant funding can be used to repair or replace damaged equipment and storage facilities, improve production and processing capacity, and address other needs essential to restoring agricultural activity and ensuring food security in their regions. The average grant amount is USD 75,000.

Medium-sized agricultural businesses

Prosper Global підтримує середнiй бiзнес у сферi сiльського господарства та сумiжних сферах, який постраждав вiд наслiдкiв вiйни i вiдновлення якого є критично важливим для фермерської діяльності домогосподарств, iнших фермерів та життєдіяльності громади.

Financial support under the programme can be used to replace destroyed or damaged agricultural machinery, attachments, equipment, buildings and other assets. The average grant amount is USD 150,000 per enterprise.

Legal and financial advisory services

Through partner organisations, Prosper Global provides legal and financial advisory services to more than 6,000 small and medium-sized agricultural enterprises. These consultations help businesses address legal and accounting issues so they can resume and restore their operations.

Support for agricultural service providers

Prosper Global supports research institutes, experimental stations, agricultural development institutions and other agricultural service providers working with farmers and small and medium-sized agricultural enterprises. This support aims to improve the quality of their services, expand access to them and introduce new services in response to market demand.

Support for women farmers

Prosper Global is expanding the Ukraine Agriculture Support Programme (UASP) by introducing a new component focused on supporting women farmers. This component will provide women with access to agricultural knowledge, advisory services and financial capital to help increase productivity and incomes, while strengthening their resilience to current and future shocks.

The support includes:

Delivery of a comprehensive training programme.

Participants who successfully complete the training will have the opportunity to take part in study visits to leading farms, should they wish to do so.

The opportunity to compete for financial assistance ranging from USD 3,000 to USD 7,000 to start or grow their own businesses.
