An agricultural enterprise in the Mykolaiv region has purchased modern equipment for vegetable farming

When full-scale war broke out, the agribusiness’s fields and production facilities found themselves in the combat zone. The territory remained under occupation for nearly nine months; the land was contaminated with explosive ordnance, and the company’s property sustained significant damage. Total losses amounted to tens of millions of hryvnias.

Despite this, the farm’s team did not give up. After the fields were cleared of mines, the farm gradually resumed operations: it repaired its equipment and returned the land to cultivation. However, the consequences of the war and the poor harvest of 2025 significantly complicated this process.

Participation in the Mercy Corps Ukraine program, funded by the Howard G. Buffett Foundation, provided crucial support. Thanks to the grant, the farm purchased new agricultural equipment that helps it operate more efficiently: an onion harvester, a seed drill, and a potato harvester.

“This equipment is essential for our production. Especially the ‘Agricola’ seeder. It allows us to sow with precision. We’ve tried using one before—we leased one—but the new one we received works even better. It saves both labor and planting material. The seedlings will also be more evenly distributed, which means we can expect a better harvest. In addition, the new equipment significantly reduces the time needed to resume operations,” says Mykola, the company’s director.

Today, 570 hectares of land are being cultivated. Grain and vegetable crops have been planted. Despite all the challenges, the company continues to operate and provide jobs for people.

LASKA FUND implements the program in Mykolaiv, Kherson, and Odesa regions.
