Viktor is an experienced farmer who has been growing grain crops for more than three decades. Over the years of hard work, he acquired all the agricultural machinery he needed and helped local residents cultivate their land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When the full-scale war began, the village where Viktor farms remained under Russian military control for nearly seven months. During this time, the farm suffered extensive damage, and the land became contaminated with explosive ordnance. As a result, agricultural activities were suspended in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After the village returned to Ukrainian control and the security situation stabilised, Viktor began the recovery process. He repaired some of his machinery himself. However, he could no longer manage to complete all the necessary work on time while also providing services to other farmers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Viktor learned from other farmers about the Mercy Corps grant programme, funded by the Howard G. Buffett Foundation. At first, he was not convinced that he would be able to secure grant support. However, after LASKA FUND managers contacted him and work on his application began, he realised that it was possible and that the application could be successful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With the grant funds, Viktor purchased a tractor, a seed drill, a disc harrow, a field roller and a trailed sprayer. He now cultivates 220 hectares of land. Viktor says that participating in the grant programme and purchasing new equipment helped him keep his farm afloat and resume operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt was very difficult without this equipment. Our tractor burned down, and the old one couldn\u2019t handle the workload. So this grant was a great help to us. The new machinery performs better, and the quality of our work has improved. As a result, we expect higher yields as well. In addition, the new equipment saves time and resources \u2014 the damaged tractor kept breaking down and constantly needed repairs. This grant has given us hope, and we are very grateful for it,\u201d Viktor said, sharing his experience of participating in the programme.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
LASKA FUND implements the program in Mykolaiv, Kherson, and Odesa regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
