A few days ago, our longtime friends from the Domanivska community—members of the “Oberig-Agro” agricultural cooperative—visited the FUND LASKA . They brought delicious gifts: fresh organic vegetables they had grown themselves. Tomatoes, cucumbers, basil… We know very well how much hard work went into these vegetables.
Our shared story began back in 2017 thanks to the Ukrainian Horticulture Business Development Project (UHBDP). It was then that, together with our partners, we supported an initiative to establish a cooperative for the families of combat veterans. After returning to civilian life, many veterans were looking for opportunities to work, support their families, and build their own businesses.
As part of the AgroReAdapt project, training sessions were organized, strategic planning was carried out, and a business model for the future cooperative was developed. The first four greenhouses for growing organic vegetables and greens were installed, a tractor and equipment were provided, and a pellet production line was launched. The joint initiative has grown into a successful farm that is now attracting the attention of other donors.
Today, “Oberig-Agro” is:
– 27 members of the cooperative;
– 19 modern greenhouses on the site of a former landfill;
– a private solar power plant;
– organic vegetables grown without the use of chemicals.
We particularly appreciate that our collaboration did not end with the establishment of the cooperative. For many years now, we have maintained a partnership, celebrated each other’s successes, and watched as the veteran-owned business continues to thrive and grow.
Thank you to the “Oberig-Agro” Cooperative for your trust!
