On September 25, Mykolaiv hosted the Women Farmers Forum “Women in Agriculture: Development, Leadership and Partnership” — the final event of the Women Farmers Support Programme.
The day brought together women from Mykolaiv, Odesa and Kherson regions — women who, even in challenging times, continue to develop their businesses, create jobs and economic opportunities, and contribute to the strength and resilience of their communities.
The forum provided a platform for sharing experiences and success stories, as well as for professional dialogue on the challenges and prospects of the agricultural sector. Particularly inspiring were the stories of participants who, through training, advisory support and grant funding, were able to launch or scale up their own farms, making them more efficient and resilient.
But the true value of the Forum was its people — strong, determined and resilient women who prove through their everyday work that the development of a community begins with initiative, knowledge and faith in one’s own abilities.
Olha Dvoiehlazova, Director of the “Ukraine Agriculture Support Programme” project, and other members of the Prosper Global team (formerly Mercy Corps) shared in the joy of connecting with the women.
The women grant recipients were welcomed by Dmytro Yusunov, Director of the Department for Agricultural Development and Irrigation of the Kherson Regional Military Administration; Volodymyr Afanasiev, a representative of the Department of Agro-Industrial Development of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration; and Andrii Dychenko, Head of the Mykolaiv branch of the Ukrainian State Fund for Farm Support.
The Forum became a space for open dialogue, new connections, knowledge sharing and partnership. Behind every project and every farm are people — their determination, hard work and belief in what they do.
Thank you to all the participants, experts, partners and organizers for this important day and for your contribution to the development of women’s entrepreneurship in Ukraine’s agricultural sector.
Strong women. Strong communities. A strong Ukraine.
